Why Lord Vinayaka had willfully accepted the elephant head?
Actually the head of an elephant represents the “OM” Symbol, since Lord Vinayaka is worshipped as the first god, and, in order to add more significance to him, he has been granted the head of an elephant by his father Lord Shiva. Lord Vinayaka also seems to appear short in size, and his short size implies, that even the god appears in short form, but, he contains enormous powers!
It is also believed that since Lord Vinayaka contains the habit of eating lot of Mothakams called as Kozhukattais, he contains a big belly. But actually the main reason for his fat belly is, since the great Lord Vinayaka, holds the entire universe on his stomach, his big stomach appears to be fat in size.
