Sri Yukteshwar Giri was a 19th century Yogi and he was the guru of Sri Paramahansa Yogananda. He was born in West Bengal, and Sri Yukteswar was specialised in Kriya Yoga, Meditation and he got good knowledge in Hindu Scriptures. He was the Chief disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya and he gave valuable Yoga and Spiritual guidance to his disciples at his Ashram.

In his ashram, he celebrated important festivals like Diwali, and mingled freely with the Ashram students. Due to his intelligence, he was celebrated as a respectful Yoga Guru by the people in and around Varanasi. While conducting spiritual classes, he used to adopt high disciplinary training methods at his Ashram, in order to make his disciples to lead a disciplined life. His disciple Sri Paramahamsa Yogananda, had mentioned in detail about his Guru, Sri Yukteshwar Giri, in his famous book, “Autobiography of an Yogi”.

He cured the physical and mental diseases of his disciples through his abnormal powers, and he lived a healthy life by practising Kriya Yoga, and he acted as an example to others.
