Sharanga bow of Lord Vishnu

Sharanga bow of Lord Vishnu

Sharanga is the celestial bow of Lord Vishnu, and his other weapons are the Sudarshana Chakra, Mace Kaumodaki and Sword Nandaka. Sharanga is also known as Kodanda, and this Kodanda was used by Lord Rama and Lord Krishna during their fights with the demons, and for some time this bow was also kept by Lord Parasurama. This divine bow was made by the divine architect Sri Vishwakarma, and he also made the Pinaka, the bow of Lord Shiva.

During Sita’s Swayamvara, Lord Rama lifts the Pinaka and through his supreme powers, he broke it. Sage Parashurama tested the powers of Lord Rama, and after knowing about his skills, he gave Sharanga to Lord Rama. Lord Rama used this bow during the battles with demons, and also he used it when he fought with Ravana during the Lanka war. At the time of his departure from the earth, Lord Rama took the Sharanga bow along with him to the Vaikunta.

Lord Krishna gave Sharanga to Arjuna during the Kurukshetra war. Sharanga is the divine weapon of Lord Vishnu, and he permanently dwells with Lord Vishnu. Sharanga contains great powers, and he slayed many demons. He got the great opportunity to serve under Lord Vishnu, and also with his avatars. He helped a lot to the almighty and brought victory to him, through his enormous powers.

This bow is also used by Lord Indra during the times of battles with the demons. This bow would cause harm only to the bad ones, and would never punish the good ones. Once when Lord Indra tried to strike an arrow on Bhakta Prahlada using the bow Sharanga, he was unable to do it, since Bhakta Prahlada is always protected by Lord Vishnu, and due to his chanting of Narayana Mantra, he couldn’t be defeated by Lord Indra.

Let us worship the divine bow Sharanga and be blessed.
