The lotus flower plays an important role in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism. In various Slokas of Ma Lakshmi, the lotus flower is praised.

Lotus flower is considered as a divine flower in which Mata Lakshmi Devi is seated. It is used for performing puja to Lord Vishnu and Ma Lakshmi, and it gives good results to us.

Lord Vishnu is also known as Padmanabha, since Lord Brahma was arisen from the navel of Lord Vishnu in a lotus flower. The goddess Saraswati also is seated in a white-coloured lotus. The lotus is the holy flower used to decorate the idols of the gods, and goddesses and considered as a sacred flower.

Vishnu is often described as Kamala Kannan, Lotus eyed god.

Lotus is praised in Bhagavat Gita by Lord Krishna.

The lotus flower is the state flower of Karnataka, Haryana, and Andhra Pradesh. It is believed that those who worship Mata Lakshmi with lotus flower would get all sorts of prosperity and peacefulness in their life.
