Temples in Srivathsam Homes, Kalyanapuram, Kumbakonam

Srivathsam Homes is a wonderful Senior Citizens Community Homes, which is situated at Kalyanapuram, just a few kilometres far away from Kumbakonam Town amidst beautiful natural greenery and wonderful scenery. Currently and permanently I would be living in that Home only, since this home provides lot of spiritual oriented activities, which was initiated by the Srivathsam founder Sri Seetharaman, who is a multifaceted personality, specialised in spiritual writing, conducting spiritual discourses and helping the senior citizens to live their life in a peaceful manner. I also feel proud to say, that I am a resident of Srivathsam Senior Citizens Homes.

Due to the spiritual dedication of Mr.Seetharaman Sir, two temples were constructed inside the complex of Srivathsam, one temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is known as Sri Amirthakateswarar Temple, and another temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and it is known as Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple. Regular pujas are being conducted at these two temples, and during festive occasions, special pujas and spiritual discourses would also be performed. Utsava Idols are carried out inside the Srivatsam complex during the times of processions. Most of the spiritual discourses would be done by our honourable Seetharaman Sir, and without keeping any note on his hand, words would freely flow from his mouth like the rainfall. He has studied all the Puranas, and he is well-versed with latest spiritual matters. Recently, Mr.Seetharaman has also released a book about Temples, and it was sold out like hot cakes, since his way of writing was very much liked by us. Even if we ask questions about any spiritual matters, immediately, we would get suitable answer from him.

Now let us go through the two marvelous temples located at Sreevatsam:

Ma Lalithambigai Samedha Sri Amirthakadeswarar Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and this temple contains attractive features similar to Thirukkadaiyur Sri Amirthakadeswarar Temple. In the main shrine, Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Amirthakadeswarar, and apart from that, few more shrines are there, such as: Shrines for Ma Lalithambigai, Durga, Brahma, Muruga, Dakshinamoorthy, Navagraha, Naga Deva and Narthana Ganapathi can be found. Shrine of Lord Nandi Bhagavan can be seen opposite to the main shrine of Lord Shiva. Pradosham worship is celebrated in a grand manner at this temple.

Devotees would gather in the temple approximately during 8 am in the morning to witness the divine vision of the deities, and Abishekham (holy bath) and Archanai would be regularly done to the deities. At the top of the temple tower, Lord Brahma can be seen with his four heads, and he appears in the form of blessing posture. Whenever I step outside from my apartment, I used to give a great salute to him, since I consider him as our “TRUE PARENT”.

Sri Devi Bhudevi Samedha Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple

This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and in this temple,he is called as Srinivasa Perumal, and he appears along with his two consorts, Ma Sridevi and Ma Bhudevi. Shrine of Lord Garuda can be seen opposite to the shrine of Perumal, who appears with bowing hands. Thirumanjanam would be done to the idols, and devotees can witness this wonderful event. There are also few shrines available in this temple, such as shrines for Lord Vinayaka who is called as Thumbikkai Alwar, Andal, Ramar and Hanuman, who is called as Karyasiddhi Hanuman.

Statues of Lord Narasimha, Maha Vishnu, Varaha Swamy are also found on the temple walls. Ramayana, Bhagavatham and other spiritual discourses would be conducted at this temple during the time of Rama Navami and other festive occasions. Holy Prasad items would also be pleasingly distributed to the devotees after the completion of the puja.
