At this present period, whenever we write an article about Pathnis and Pathivirathais (Chaste women) we should be very careful! And that’s why I didn’t want to compare ancient women with the present day women in a detailed manner, since changes are always constant! In this article, just I have mentioned only about the present day happenings, and I am not pin pointing on anyone, since my main aim is to only create happiness in the minds of the readers, and also I think that my article serves as a “TIME PASS” to the readers!
We cannot deeply involve, ourselves in a debate with the past and present day women, since due to modern fast changing world, present day women seems to be very bold and they always used to stand up on their own legs. But however, some important qualities are found to be missing with some present day women, since some of them are addicted to bad habits like smoking and drinking by considering these habits as a part of their stylish life!
At this present period, a husband cannot expect a very good respect from his wife, since he has to adjust himself with the present day scenario. He should not consider his wife just like a machine, but should respect her feelings and must act like her close friend. Sometimes, fight might result in committing crimes, and hence, the couples should tackle their problems in a wise manner.
Once while I was walking near Ayanavaram Post Office, I have heard about the discussion of two females. One of them was asking to the other, “At this present period, no one are Pathnis and Pathivirathais(CHASTE WOMEN), even you have been separated from your husband and living with another person, is that is correct, please tell me? But the other woman had replied, I have got full freedom to choose any one as my husband, no one can interfere with my personal affairs. Please shut up your mouth and keep quiet”.
But we cannot tell that all of the women are behaving like this, and it all depends on their living standard and based on their brought ups. But when compared with women, the crimes committed by men are large! This could be known by reading in newspapers and magazines. In order to put up an end for this, we must have to follow the spiritual path, and must live as per the “BHAGAVAT GITA TEACHINGS”, of Lord Krishna.
Pathnis like Ma Vasuki (Thiruvalluvar-Vasuki), Ma Kannagi and Ma Nalayani occupy a major role towards supporting their consorts. They are chaste and pure women who also got spiritual powers, through the blessings of their consorts. They are considered as the dutiful wives of their consorts, and contain chastity, holiness and greatness. They never used to speak harsh words against their consorts and would remain obedient and act as an example for others.
Women must have to be considered similar to men, and men must realize that in each and every woman’s soul, Ma Shakti Devi dwells. Women is the one who is giving birth to the child with much painstaking efforts and takes care of it properly, even when she is neglected by her husband. They are shining in all the fields, and occupy a major role in politics also. Ancient women used to cook in their homes, since they were not properly educated and also they were not employed, hence they have patiently faced the harm caused by the consorts, since they doesn’t know no other way to go, even if they have been rejected by their husbands!
But nowadays most of the women are standing up on their own legs, and they are not depending on their husbands. They expect only the true love and a lovely smile from their consorts. They also help the family by contributing a major portion of their income to the family. Though women don’t contain physical strength similar to men, but they contain more mental strength than that of men. They are the pillars for the family, and men must realize that.
