Songs on Chitragupta Bhagwan

Lord Chitragupta is a divine accountant who maintains complete records of activities of human beings in the earth and punishes or rewards them according to their Karmas. He is assisting Lord Yama Dharmaraja, and does his duties in a righteousness manner. Chitragupta is the son of Lord Brahma and he is worshipped in India and in Nepal. It is also believed that he was created from the picture drawn by Mata Parvati, and gave life to the picture, and since he was created from the picture, he came to be known as Lord ChitraGupta. There is a special puja performed in favour of Lord ChitraGupta during the Chitra Pournami festival by the Hindus in order to get the blessings of Sri Chitra Gupta Maharaj.

ChitraGupta is carefully watching our each and every activity and gives the correct judgement. According to legend, it is also said, that Lord Indra and Indrani were took care of him in the Indralok during his childhood.

He was mainly created to reduce the burden of Lord Yama Dharma. Once the death god has faced lot of difficulties in making the correct calculations of the human beings Karma, and as a result, he reported his problem to Lord Maheshwar. The great Lord had got mercy on Yama and created ChitraGupta through his powers. By birth itself, Lord ChitraGupta has got great powers. He was a clever and an efficient person, who was able to execute the toughest task of making calculations of human beings actions, and sending them to heaven or hell, based on their karmic deeds.

He is executing his task by keep chanting Lord Shiva’s mantra, and through his blessings he was successfully carrying out his duties for several lakhs of years. It is beneficial for us to worship Lord Chitra Gupta temple in Kanchipuram, in order to reduce our sufferings in our life. There is also a separate shrine for Lord Chitragupta in the Arunachaleswara Temple, and he is seated along with his consort.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. Though I would have committed lot of mistakes in my life, please forgive my mistakes, and if possible, instead of giving severe punishment, give me small punishment, so that I would not suffer a lot”.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. My Dear Lord, I don’t know what is correct and what is wrong. Please make me to do only good deeds in my life, and help me to devote my attention more and more on the almighty”.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. You have been living in your abode for several millions of years. But yet you look like a young man. You contain a charming face with an attractive body. You wear golden ornaments which glitter like the shining sun. You are considered as the best judgement god. Please remove the troubles and turmoil in my life, and help me to attain salvation after my death”.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. The people in this Kaliyuga are committing lot of sins, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Consider them as your own sons and daughters, kindly relieve them from their sins, and show the correct path to them”.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. You are the powerful immortal god, who would remain alive even during the time of deluge. You look like the bright Dhruva Star, who always remains in the souls of your devotees”.

“Jai Jai Chitragupta Maharaj Ki Jai. Please give me a painless and a fearless death, and make me to remember you always, and especially at the time of my death, since I want to always serve you as your faithful servant under your lotus feet at your holy abode”.
