The 10-day annual festival will be held at Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple in March 2011 during Ayyappa Jayanti (Panguni Uthram). The festival begins on 10 March and ends on 19 March 2011. The temple was opened on 9 March for the preparations of the festival and performed the purification ritual, Prasadasudhi Kriya. The main rituals start with Ashtadravya Ganapati Homam on 10 March. Before the beginning of Kodiyettu ceremony (between 10.35 am and 11.30 am), the golden flag is hoisted.
The important temple festival ritual, Utsavabali, is performed at 11 am from 11 March to 18 March and the Utsavabali Darshan will be from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm. After the Pushpabhishekom, the auspicious Padipuja would be performed in the evening from March 11 to 18. The Pallivetta would be held at Saramkuthi on March 18 evening.
Arat ceremony held at Pampa River marks the end of the temple festival. It is performed at 11 am on March 19. The festival comes to close after Athazhapuja at 11 pm on 19th.
