Pranaya Kalahotsavam in Tirumala Tirupati Temple
Among the festivities that are being observed in Tirumala, here is an interesting fete, Pranaya Kalahotsavam (Lovers’ Quarrel Ceremony) that is scheduled to take place on December 28, Thursday, 2023.
Usually this festival takes place on the 6th day after Vaikuntha Ekadasi. It may be mentioned here that Vaikuntha Ekadasi was observed on December 28. Exactly after six days, Pranaya Kalahotsavam will take place in Tirumala.
On this day, the processional deity of Sri Malayappa Swami and His two consorts meets in front of Swami Pushkarini on different palanquins. The Goddesses and Lord face each other. The Jiyars, religious staffs and Officials split in to two categories with one team taking the side of Lord and other supporting Goddesses.
The Divya Prabandha Pasura Parayanam is rendered here. Later the “Love Game” will be enacted where in the Goddesses throw flower balls over Lord while the later runs backwards in order to get hit by these floral balls thrown by His two consorts. The Slokam which is rendered here is called “Ninda Stuti”. This interesting festival comes to an end with the Lord promising His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi that he would remain loyal to them. Later they return to the temple.
The unique festival, Pranaya Kalaha Mahotsavam in which Sri Venkateswara Swamy along with His two consorts participates in an interesting ”Love Game” will be held in Tirumala on December 28.
Commemorating this festival, the Utsava murthies of Swami and Ammavarlu will leave the Vaibhavotsava mandapam separately on golden palanquins and face each other opposite Sri Varahaswamy temple.
Here the priests divide into two with one set taking the side of Srivaru and other supporting the divine consorts.
They render Pasuras of the Alwar Divyaprabandha separately on behalf of the Swami and the Ammavarlu on the occasion written in Nindastuti style. After that, the divine consorts, after taunting the Swami, throw flower balls at each other and the Swami escapes from the flowers shots.
The entire episode provides a visual treat and entertainment to the devotees witnessing the festival. Later the deities return to the temple.

డిసెంబరు 28న శ్రీవారి ప్రణయకలహ మహోత్సవం
శ్రీ వేంకటేశ్వరస్వామివారు తన దేవేరులతో కలిసి పాల్గొనే కలహ శృంగారభరితమైన ప్రణయ కలహ మహోత్సవం డిసెంబరు 28వ తేదీ గురువారం తిరుమలలో జరుగనుంది.
ఈ ఉత్సవాన్ని పురస్కరించుకొని సాయంత్రం 4 గంటలకు స్వామివారు, అమ్మవార్ల ఉత్సవమూర్తులు బంగారు పల్లకీలపై వేరువేరుగా వైభవోత్సవ మండపం నుండి ఊరేగింపుగా బయలుదేరి శ్రీ వరాహస్వామి ఆలయం వద్ద ఒకరికొకరు ఎదురేగుతారు. ఇక్కడ అర్చకులు స్వామి, అమ్మవార్ల తరఫున వేరువేరుగా ఆళ్వారు దివ్యప్రబంధంలోని పాశురాలను స్తుతిస్తారు. ఆ తరువాత అమ్మవార్లు స్వామివారిని నిందాస్తుతి చేసిన అనంతరం ఒకరిపై ఒకరు పూలబంతులను విసరడం, స్వామివారు పుష్పఘాతం నుండి తప్పించుకోవడం వంటి ఆసక్తికరమైన సన్నివేశాలతో ఈ ప్రణయకలహ మహోత్సవం నిర్వహిస్తారు.
