Kula Devata is Our Moola Devata (Main Deity).. Kula Devata also known as Kuladeva or Kuladevi is a hereditary deity, also called as Family deity in Hinduism, and they would prosper the life of their sincere devotees, and gives all kinds of goodness in their lives.
Kula Devata is different from our Ishta-devata, beloved deity, Kaval Devata, guardian deity, and Gramadevata, village deity. My Kuladevi is Ma Angalamman, whose temple is situated in Erode, and she is a powerful and wish fulfilling goddess. Angala Parameswari Amman or Angalamman is a form of goddess Parvathi, and her Origin is Melmalayanoor. The Kula Devata for most of the devotees in Tamil Nadu is Ma Angala Parameswari Amman. Ankalamma is considered to be one among the “Seven Divine Mothers”, and she is also considered to be a form of Ma Kali.
There are several temples for Mata Angala Parameswari Amman. Among that, one famous and ancient temple is situated in Keerakara Street, Erode-638001. She is a very powerful goddess, and fulfils the wishes of her devotees. Along with the main Amman shrine, shrines of various other gods, goddesses and demi gods are found inside the temple premises. This temple is situated a few kilometres away from the Erode Bus Stand, and a few lodges and hotels are also situated just within half a kilometre from the temple.
Kuladevata would save the entire family of their devotees, from floods, earth quakes, storms and from other natural Calamities. Kuladevata is worshipped by the people, based on their belief, and the Kuladevata deity can be of male or female, and devotees would travel to the Kuladevata or Kuladevi temple, especially during festival days, at least once in a year, in order to obtain the blessings of the deity.
Kuladevatas are worshiped by the people belonging to Hinduism. In North India, the Kuladevatas are worshipped as the incarnations of Mata Parvati and Lord Shiva, and the deities are called by different names. Snake gods and goddesses are also worshipped as the Kuladevata, by some sects of people. Lord Venkateswara is also worshipped as Kula Deva by most of the Telugu community people, as well as by the Madhwa community people, and Madhwas considers Guru Raghavendra as their next Kuladeva and worship him as their holy guru.
The deity who protects our tribe is called Kula Deivam. Jaggery Donation to the family deity will remove all sorts of obstacles in our life. Jaggery is a commodity that we can all buy cheaply. We can buy as much as we can, and donate it to the family temple from our own hands. This jaggery should be used to make prasad to the family deity. We can buy a minimum quantity of 1 kg of jaggery.
Whenever we go to our Kula Devata temple, we must have to buy jaggery from nearby shops, must keep it in our home at least for a few hours, and then we have to carry it for giving it to the temple, and If possible, at least one person in the family can go to the family temple every month, and donate this jaggery, for getting sweet news like marriage, child birth, promotion etc. If we are unable to visit our family deity temple immediately, then we can do this Jaggery donation at the time of our next visit to the temple.
