Bhim Ekadashi, or Bhima Ekadasi or Bhimseni Ekadashi, is the most observed Ekadashi vratas in all 24 Ekadashi vratas. Also known as Pandav Bhimseni Ekadasi, Nirjala Ekadasi, and Pandava Ekadasi, Bhim Ekadasi 2026 date is June 25, Thursday.

This Ekadasi falls on eleventh day in Shukla Paksha of Jyeshta month. It is considered as highly auspicious day for Vaishnava cult of Hindus. Bhim Ekadasi mahatmya is mentioned in many scriptures such as Mahabharata and the Padma Purana.

Pandav Bhim Ekadasi vrat phala (benefits and merits of Nirajala Ekadasi vrata) is equal to the phala of all 24 Ekadashi vrata.

The name Bhima Ekadashi comes directly from the Mahabharata legend involving Bhima, the second Pandava brother. Known for his massive appetite and love for food, Bhima found it physically impossible to fast twice a month like the rest of his family. Feeling guilty that he was missing out on the spiritual benefits, he sought a solution from his grandfather, Sage Vyasa.

Vyasa advised him that if he could endure just one strict, absolute waterless fast during the hottest time of the year (the Jyeshtha month), he would earn the spiritual merit of fasting on all 24 Ekadashis combined. Bhima successfully completed this grueling test of willpower, which is why this specific Ekadashi honors him and bears his name.
