Arudrothsavam at Srisailam Temple

Arudrothsavam is an important festival at Srisailam Temple. It is observed on the Arudra Nakshatram in Dhanurmasam as per Telugu calendar. In 2017, Arudrotsavam date is January 11.

As Arudra is the Janma Nakshatram (birth star constellation) of Lord Shiva, Arudrotsavam has greater significance.

Arudra is the birth Star of God Siva. In Dhanurmasam on the day of Arudra Nakshatram Special Poojas like Lingodhbhavakala Rudrabhishekam, Annabhishekam and Vahana Seve are offered to God Mallikarjuna Swamy.

Arudrotsavam is celebrated Arudra Darisanam in Tamil Nadu and Thiruvathira festival in Kerala.
