Uddharan Dutta Thakura (1481–1541) was a popular saint, who belongs to the Gaudiya Vaishnava sect, and he was a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna. He has written lot of wonderful works on Lord Krishna, and his songs were very beautiful, which attracts thousands and thousands of Krishna devotees during his period. He has also practiced Spiritual Yoga and meditation. It is believed that during the Dwapara Yuga, he was one of the best Yadava Friends of Lord Krishna.
Uddharan Dutta Thakura was born to a pious family in a village in the present-day West Bengal, and his birth name was Divakara Dutta, and at his young age itself, he was married to a pious and a chaste girl, but his wife died at her young age. In course of time, he surrendered at the lotus feet of Sri Nityananda Prabhu, who was considered to be an incarnation of Lord Balarama. Divakara Dutta sincerely served him and became his cook. He also received sainthood by Nityananda Prabhu, and from then onwards, he came to be known as “SWAMY UDDHARAN DUTTA THAKURA”.
Uddharana Dutta Thakura has started a free food donation centre during the year 1507 AD, and apart from serving delicious food to the devotees of Sri Krishna, he also built small cottages for the poor people.. After some time, Sri Uddharan Dutta Thakur joined with Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu at Puri, and there also, he served as a chief cook for Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. And after staying with him for a few years, he spent his final stages of life at the Holy Vrindavana. During the year 1541, Sri Thakura has attained Maha Samadhi, and his main Samadhi Mandir is situated in Vrindavana.
DIVINE TEACHINGS
1.Let’s Worship Lord Krishna from our heart, and consider him as our beloved god.
2.Lord Krishna can be easily seen by everyone, provided, if they dedicatedly worship him by considering that he is the supreme god.
3.When we recite the word, K R I S H N A, we could see who much happiness we get from our heart!
4.The main purpose of the Krishna Avatar is to give a comfortable feeling to his devotees in this difficult Kali Yuga.
5.For our own sufferings, Lord Krishna cannot be blamed.
6.Even if you worship even a small dust particle by considering it as Lord Krishna, you would get the immediate blessings of Lord Krishna.
7.By keep remembering the glorious handsome face of Lord Krishna, we would get a pleasant feeling.
8.Lord Krishna cannot be ignored in our life, since even if we forget him he would make us to remember him, by the way of showing his divine appearance in our imagination as well as in our dream.
9.Human life is always subject to several difficulties. In order to get rid from our sufferings, let us keep on offering our sincere prayers to Lord Krishna, during day and night.
10.By regularly chanting the Sri Krishna Mantra, our sins would be cleansed.
