Vaishakha masam or Vaishakh month is the second month in traditional Hindu Telugu calendar followed in Andhra Pradesh. In 2018, Vaishakha masam starts on April 16 and ends on May 15.
The similar calendar is followed in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Vaisakha masam is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is also known as Madhava Masam in Vaishnava calendar.
Vaishakha Snanam is the main ritual observed during the month of Vaisakh. Special Vaisakha masa pujas are performed in many famous temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna, Lord Narasimha, etc.) in Andhra Pradesh.
Shukla Paksham in Telugu Vaishakha masam 2018 starts on April 16 and ends on April 30.
Krishna Paksham in Telugu Vaisakha masam 2018 starts on May 1 and ends on May 15.
Akshaya Tritiya, Narasimha Jayanthi (Narsimha Chaturdashi), and Buddha Purnima (Maha Vaishakhi) are the major festivals in Vaisakha maasam. Gauri Puja and Lakshmi Puja are performed on Aksha Thadiya in many regions of Andhra Pradesh.
Chandanotsavam is held on Akshaya Truthiya in Simhachalam Narasimha swamy temple. Vasavi Jayanthi, Veerabrahma swamy Aradhana (Brahmamgari Aradhana), Annavaram Satyanarayana swamy kalyanam, and Vaisakha Pournami Sampada Gauri vratam are other important festivals celebrated in Vaisakh maasam in Andhra Pradesh as par Telugu calendar.
