What is the significance or spiritual importance of Vaishakha Masam which is also known as Vaisakh month? Vaishakh mahina is the favorite month for Lord Vishnu. It is the second month in traditional lunar calendars followed in North Indian states, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. In Gujarati calendars, it is the seventh month.
According to Sage Narada, the three months – Kartik mahina, Magh Maas, and Vaishakh maas are the most auspicious months among all 12 months. But in these three, Vaishakh mas is the supreme month. Vaishak maas has the sacredness to cleanse the sins of previous births and free the devotee from the result of bad deeds. For good rituals like pujas, yagna, homa, tapas (penance), etc, it is the most preferable month. It is said that Lord Vishnu tests his devotees during this month and blesses him as per his deeds.
Hindus believe that it is very easy to attain Chatur Purusharthas (Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha) with Vaishakha Masa Vratam. Rituals, customs and traditions, collectively called as Vaishakh dharma, grant the devotees good health, fame, sustenance and unending blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Many legendary people were born in Vaishakh month. Lord Parasurama, Narasimha, Aadi Shankaracharya (Sankara Bhagavatpada), Goddess Ganga (Ganga Saptami), Ramanujacharya, Vidyaranya, and Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameshwari.
