TTD, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, is one the way to take up yer another prestigious and ambitious project for social welfare. TTD has set up a recycling plant near the temple compex to crush 150 kg of plastic bottles into pipes that are sold to farmers for micro irrigation.
Millions of pilgrims visiting the temple monthly and leaving around tonnes of non-biodegradable waster. The waste includes plastic carry bags and water bottles which cause a huge damage to environment around the Lord of Seven Hills.
According to TTD Executive Office LV Subramaniam, the plastic pipes which are converted from plastic waste will be sold for subsidised prices to farmers in Chandragiti mandal of Chittoor district.
