Shivarathri at Thalassery Temples

Shivarathri is marked with grand festivity in many Lord Shiva temples in the town of Thalassery in the district of Kannur in the state of Kerala. These shrines are as follows.

Thrccherumanna Sree Maha Siva (Akkara Kottiyoor) Temple is situated on the northern side of Baavati River and at a distance of 64 km. northeast of Thalassery at Kottiyoor. This temple is marked with twenty seven days Vaisaka festival that starts in the Jyothi star of Malayalam month Edavam and gets over in the Chithira star of month Mithunam.

Thrccherumanna Sree Maha Siva (Ikkara Kottiyoor) Temple it is located  at the southern side of Baavati river and at a distance of about 64 km. northeast of Thalassery at Kottiyoor; the festivity  is marked with twenty seven days Vaisaka festival that commences in the Jyothi star of Malayalam month Edavam and gets over in the Chithira star of month Mithunam.

At Peraavoor is located Vellarvally Sree Siva-Parvathy (Vaireeghaathakan-Bhagavathi) Kottam is situated at a distance of about 3 and a half km. southwest of Peraavoor at Vellarvally. In the village named Muzhakkunnu are located Pintaali Sree Siva (Kalari) Temple at Muzhakkunnu Bazaar is located at a distance of about 1 km. south of Muzhakkunnu on Mutakkozhi road,  Cherukku Sree Siva Temple, Kottayam (Malabar) Palace is situated at a distance of nearly 1 km. south of Muzhakkunnu on Mutakkozhi road,  Nittool Sree Siva Temple is located at a distance of just half km. east of Vilakkot on Iritty – Peraavoor road and Vilakkot Sree Mahadeva Temple is situated at a distance of nearly half km. southeast of Vialakkot on Iritty – Peraavoor road.
