Shayan Aarti

Shayan Aarti… Shayan Aarti means making the great almighty to sleep like a child. During night time, in some of the temples, the Utsava Idols would be decorated and it would be kept in a Swing (Oonjal) and pleasant bhakti songs would be sung in order to make the deity to sleep peacefully during night times. In Sankara TV, during 10 pm, they are telecasting the Sayana Arati Program, and we could watch this divine program, in order to get delighted.

Oh, my Dear Mother Durga, though I am an ordinary man, yet I worship you sincerely, and I kept great faith on you. I always consider you as my divine mother. Oh Ma. But due to my selfless devotion, I have hidden at your temple shrine, and now, I am able to see your beautiful face in the light, without any hindrance. No crowd. No push. Only we two are here. I don’t know what to do. I am going to compel you to sleep, by singing wonderful songs on you. Oh Ma, please accept my prayers, and now it’s the correct time for you to sleep.

Oh, my Dear Mother Durga, you are very generous to your devotees in offering food, and that’s why you have been popularly called as “ANNADURGA”. You have already rendered sufficient blessings to your devotees during the day time. Oh Devi Ma, if at all you avoid sleep in night, then I would complain about the situation to your consort Lord Shiva. Just listen to my words, and act accordingly. Oh, my Dear Mother Durga, the holy Navratri festival is fast approaching. So be prepared for that. I have bought a wonderful sari for you in order to adorn it to you on the auspicious “VIJAYADASAMI” festival day, and I would also prepare your favourite ghee sweets from my own hands, and would offer it to you. Oh, my Dear Mother Durga, even after doing lot of pujas, why your devotees keep on suffering in their lives? Is there is any specific reason for that? Being the universal mother, it’s your duty to remove their tears, and give some sort of solutions for their problems. Please act fast. He always pleases others through his playful acts, and sometimes he even used to show his divine vision in front of his devotees.

I am doing this act, not to punish him, but I am doing it, out of my own love and affection, in order to make him to restrict his playful acts, since he always gives pleasant troubles to others.

My Child Krishna is worshipped even by the great sages like Sanaka, and with his gentle smile, he steals the hearts of everyone, and I have been very much blessed to grow up my beloved child Krishna under my lap.
