Shravan Maas (Sawan mahina or Shravan month) is the 5th month in Marathi calendar of Maharashtra and some Konkan regions. In 2018, Shravan maas begins on August 12 and ends on September 9.
Shravan month is the most favorite month for Lord Shiva. Shiv bhagwan drank Halahal and became Neelkanth during the Samudra Manthan (churning of ocean) in Shravan mahina. Each day in Shravan month has significance.
Shukla Paksha in Shravan Month begins on August 12 and ends on August 26.
Krishna Paksha in Shravan Month begins on August 27 and ends on September 9
Shravani Somvar Shiv Mutt puja is performed on Mondays in Shravan month. Shravan somvar 2018 dates – August 13, August 20, August 27 and September 3.
Mangal Gauri Puja is the main ritual of Shravan Mangalwar (Tuesdays in Shravan month). Mangal Gauri Puja 2018 dates – August 14, August 21, August 28 and September 4.
Budh puja is the ritual followed on Shravan budhwar (Wednesdays in Shravan month) in Maharashtra.
Brihaspati Puja or Guru graham puja is observed on Shravan Guruvar (Thursdays in Shravna month). Lord Dattatreya is also worshipped on Shravan guruvar.
Jara Jivantika puja or Jivantika vrat is the major ritual of Shravan shukravar (Fridays in Shravan mahina). Varalakshmi Puja is observed on second Friday in this month. Jivantika Puja 2018 dates are – August 17, August 24, August 31 and September 7.
Shravan Shanivar is dedicated to Lord Shani puja or Balaji puja. Ashwatha Maruti Puja (Hanuman Puja) is also performed on Saturdays in Shravan maas.
Aditya Pujan or Surya pujan is performed on Shravan Ravivaar (Sundays in Shravan month).
