4 May 2019 is Shani Amavasya (Sanischari Amavasai). This Shani Amavasya is Chaitra Amavasya as per the Amavasyant Panchangam followed in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Gujarat. It is Vaishakh Amavasya as per North Indian Hindi calendars (Purnimant Panchangam).
Amavasya begins at 4.03 AM on 4 May and ends on 5 May at 4.15 AM. It falls in Chithirai Masam in Tamil calendar, Meda Masam in Malayalam calendar and Boishakh Month in Bengali Panjika.
This Amavasya marks the end of Chaitra Month for Amavasyant calendars. It also marks the end of Krishna Paksha of Vaishakh Month for Purnimant calendars of North India.
