Shaka Vrata in Chaturmas Vrat

Shaka Vrata is the 1st month in Chaturmas vrat, four holy months in Hinduism. In 2019, Shaka Vrata begins on July 11 and ends on August 9.

Shaka Vrata is observed for one month, which begins on 11th day of Shukla Paksha in Ashada month and ends on 11th day in bright half in Shravan Month.

Literally, ‘Shaka’ means vegetables and vegetarian food. Devotees take only vegetarian food during this period of Shaka vratham.

In 2016, Shaka Vrata begins on July 15 and ends on August 14.

In 2015, Shaka Vrata begins on July 27 and ends on August 26.

In 2014, Shaka Vrata begins on July 9 and ends on August 7.

In 2013, Shaka Vrata begins on July 19 and ends on August 17.

In 2012, Chaturmas vrat was observed for five months as Adhika Bhadrapada Maasa came.
