Tarani Prasad Mishra has made ‘Sand Sculpture on World Cancer Day’ (4 February 2018). The sand sculpture was made along the banks of Vamsadhara River (beach LN Peta, Srikakulam district), in Andhra Pradesh.

In the words of Tarani “My sculpture displays awareness about the Cancer, which is a deadly disease. I urge the people internationally to bring about a change in their lifestyle to protect themselves from cancer.”

The tag-line of the World Cancer Day 2016-2018 – “We can – I can” also have been included in the sculpture. The World Cancer Day was first celebrated in 2006 as a part of the World Cancer Campaign, adopted in the World Summit against Cancer organized in 2000.

Tarani added “I hope that the sand sculpture which I made on the beach / river bank during World Cancer Day will create awareness among the locals about the cancer. And I hope this sand sculpture will attract the people’s attention through the media and I think that the World Health Organization’s message will be more elaborate, helping to increase awareness of the cancer.”
