Swami Satyamitranand

Swami Satyamitranand (1932–2019) was a saint, and he was born in the year 1932 in Uttar Pradesh. His birth name was Ambika Prasad. Swami was well versed in many languages, and he has completed his post graduate degree in Agra University. He met Swami Vedavyasananda, and due to interest in spirituality, he has become his disciple, attained sainthood and from then onwards he was known as Swami Satyamitranand.

For some time, he served as the pontiff at Jyotirmath. During the year 1969, since Swamiji, wanted to spread the essence of Sanatana Dharma throughout the world, he withdrew his position and began to travel throughout the world for spreading the philosophies of Hinduism amongst the people.

He founded Bharat Mata Mandir, which is considered as a popular temple in Haridwar, on the banks of the Holy River Ganges,in order to glorify the goddess of India. The Bharat Mata temple is a big sized temple, and it contains shrines of other deities also. The opening ceremony of this temple was attended by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the year 1983. He also founded Samanvaya Seva Foundationin the year 1988 in order to help the tribal people, and provided free food, free education and also supported for medical aid to them. He established many ashrams and charitable institutions throughout the world.

Swami Satyamitranand has large number of disciples and followers in many countries. He was against caste discrimination and he fought for the upliftment of the poor people, and treated all classes of people as alike.He was also a Padma Bhushan awardee.He started the Swami Satyamitranand foundation in the year 1998, and it has several branches throughout India.
