Sabarimala Annual Festival 2015 begins on March 25 with Kodiyettu ceremony. Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple will be opened on 24 May for the 10-day annual festival.The festivities will begin with kodiyettu ceremony led by Thantri in the presence of Melsanthi between 9.20 am and 10.30 am on 25th March.
Utsavabali will be held daily from March 26 to April 2, the ninth day of the festival.
The two-hour-long ritual, which begins at 11.30 am, will be concluded with Utsavabali darsan at 1.30 pm.
Pallivetta, another important ritual, will be performed at Saramkuthi at 10.30 pm on April 2. The Pallivetta procession carrying the Sreebali idol of Lord Ayyappa will be taken out from Sannidhanam at 9.30 pm.
After the ritual, the procession will return to Sannidhanam at 11 pm to gear up for the ‘pallikuruppu’ (the holy sleep of the Lord) at the Mandapam at 11.30 pm after Athazha pooja and Hariavarasanam.
The Arattu ceremony, marking one of the concluding rituals of the annual festival, will be held at arattukadavu in Pampa river, opposite of Pampa Lord Ganapathi temple at 11.30 am on April 3.
As part of the ritual, the procession carrying the Sreebali idol of the Lord on a caparisoned elephant will be taken out from Sannidhanam at 8.30 am after arattubali at 8 am.
On arrival in front of Pampa Anjaneya Auditorium, the arattu procession will be given a traditional reception at 11 am. After the reception, the Sreebali idol of the Lord will be taken to Arattukadavu for ‘arattu’.
The arattu procession will then leave for Sannidhanam at 3.30 pm.
On reaching Sannidhanam at 9.30 pm, the festival will conclude after ‘kodiyrakku’ and ‘valiyakanikka’ at 10 pm.
