Sri Kameshwari Devi temple is situated in Chowdantivalasa Village in Vizianagaram District of Andhra Pradesh, and this sacred temple is situated amidst full of natural beauty. Sri MahaKameshwari Devi is the family deity for most of the people belonging to Brahmin community in and around Vizianagaram District.

Every year during Vijayadashami, special puja would be held in this temple, and during that time, lot of devotees would gather in the temple. Devotees can also bring Prasad from their homes like curd rice, lemon rice and pongal, and they can offer it to the participants of the temple puja.

Ma Kameshwari Devi is worshipped by her devotees in order to get rid from the bad habits like lust, anger and greed. She keeps the sugarcane bow and the arrows made out of flowers, in order to remove the lust from our mind. Ma Kameshwari is considered as an aspect of Ma Shakti Devi.

As per legend, after Kama Deva was destroyed by Lord Shiva, Ma Parvati took Kama’s sugarcane bow and his flower arrows to her possession, in order to make the minds of the people into pure and pious. She blossoms the lives of her devotees and gives good prospects in their lives. She is also called as Kamakshi and Kamakya, and Ma Kamakshi is residing in the famous Kamakshi Amman Temple at Kancheepuram, and Ma Kamakya is having her temple at Guwahati, Assam.

Though the holy mother is worshipped in different names and in different places, Devi in her incarnation as Kameshwari looks very soft and gentle, and she sits in Padmasana posture. She contains a shining and a smiling face, and wears flower garlands and gold ornaments. She is having four beautiful hands, and gives her immense blessings to her sincere devotees.

    I ,Renduchintala Subrahmanyam,resident of Boduppal Hyderabad had a Darshan of Kameshwari Devi Ammavaru Yesterday.The Purohit at the Temple is a highly learned person.Very nicely explained the temple history.We were lucky enough to meet N Pavan Kumar,and know more about the temple developments taken up in the recent past.
