Gangamma Jathara 2014 Ganga Jatara in Tataiah Gunta Gangamma Devasthanam near Tirupati

Gangamma Jathara, also known as Ganga Jatara, is an important fair held in Tataiah Gunta Gangamma Devasthanam near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. In 2014, Gangamma Jathara begins on May 8 and ends on 15.

It is expected that in 2014, over five lakh devotees from all over the state, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and even from abroad may participate in the Jatra. The fair is held for 8 days.

Devotees believe that Goddess Gangamma is the sister of Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala Tirupati. On this day Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) offer saree and other traditional offerings to the Goddess.

This festival is being celebrated on May 13, 14 and 15 every year, in most of the areas in Chittoor district (like Chittoor, Palamaner and Tirupati etc.), Andhra Pradesh, India.
