Fourth Day of Diwali | Bali Pujan, Govardhan Puja & Annakut

Fourth day of Diwali is known as Bali Padyami or Bali Pratipada. In 2018, Bali Pratipada date is November 8.

On this day, Govardhan Puja is performed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and some other states of North India. It believed on this day, Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan giri (Mount Govardhan) to protect the Gokul from heavy rains.

Bali Pujan is also performed in South Indian states on this day. On this day, demon King Maha Bali was pressed down to Pathala loka by Lord Vamana.

Annakut Puja (Chappan Bho) is observed on Swaminarayan temples and Sri Krishna Mandirs in Gujarat, and some other places of India. Kartik Sud 1 marks the beginning of Gujarati New Year (Vikram Samvat 2075).
