Durga Ashtami 2011 – Durgastami Puja during Navratri Durga Puja

Durga Ashtami 2011 date is October 4 in India. Durgashtami, Mahashtami, Virashtami is an important festival in Navratri Durga Puja. Durga Ashtami has great significance in 9-day Navratri festival. Durga Ashtami falls on eighth day in Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month (Ashwayuja masam) in all Hindu lunar calendars.

Goddess Mahagauri is the Navadurga Mata to worship on Durga Ashtami festival. Goddess Bagala or Goddess Narayani is also worshipped in some places on this day as a part of Navratri Puja procedure.

Bathukamma festival (Bathukamma Panduga) is a scintillating regional and traditional festival celebrated in Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh on Durga Ashtami.

Ayudha Puja, Suhasini Puja, and Kumari Puja (Kanya Puja) are also observed on Durga Ashtami day in some places of India.
