Some Beautiful panchaloha idols and copper plates which are believed to be formed during the 13th century AD were unearthed at the popular Sri Muthu Sattainathar Swamy temple in Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district recently. The Sattainathar Swamy temple in Sirkazhi is controlled by Sri Dharmapuram Aadheenam mutt. The consecration ceremony of the temple is scheduled on May 24, 2023.
I have already written a separate article about the Kumbabishekham details of Sri Sattainathar Swamy Temple in the popular Hindupad Spiritual website, along with the donation details, and those who want to donate, can refer to the article here..
When the workers were tried to dig a pit in order to make arrangements for various pujas within the temple complex, they found some Panchaloha idols of various deities. These precious things are believed to be sculpted during the Chola Period.
Apart from the sacred divine idols, few hundred copper plates which were inscribed in Tamil with Tevaram hymns and old puja things, such as lamps, and kalasams are among the other items which were unearthed. These things are very precious and valuable in terms of sanctity and also in terms of monetary value.
A team of archaeologists and researchers from Chennai have been testing about the age and the value of the unearthed materials which were kept at the temple premises, and these can be ascertained only after making a thorough examination by the officials. The District Collector, officials from the Revenue Department and Administrator of Dharmapuram Aadheenam mutt, visited the spot.
In ancient times, when there was no scientific advancement, people used to frequently visit the temples, and they would worship the almighty with great bhakti.
But nowadays, people are losing their faith and interest in worshipping the god, due to the fast changing scenario. Since, the great almighty is safeguarding us in our daily life, similar to that, let us try to preserve the ancient precious idols and other related things kept in the temples, and let us be blessed.
