Sri Mahalakshmi Devi is the 5th day Alankaram in Vijayawada Dasara Navaratri 2025, 26 September. During Dasara Sharan Navaratri of Kanakadurga Temple, each day one of the forms of Goddess Durga is worshipped.
Kanakadurga Mata is decorated in the form of Sri Mahalakshmi Devi and worshipped. This Shashti Navratri falls on Ashwayuja Shukla Paksha Shashti tithi.
Sree Maha Lakshmi Devi gives Her graceful darshan to devotees with lotus flowers in both her hands and hand gestures of protection and boon bestowing while the King Elephant serves Her. Mahalakshmi Devi is the symbol and cause of good omen. She is the Giver of Wealth; Cumulative form of eight forms of Lakshmi. She is the daughter of the Ocean of milk(Ksheeraabdhi); Killer of the Demon Dolaasura; middle form of The Trinity of Sakthi.
The Puranas prove that worshipping Devi gives positive results. Chandi sapthasathi asserts ‘Yaadaevee sarvabhootaegha lakshmeeroopaeNa saMsthitaa’ meaning Durga devi remains as Lakshmi in all living creatures. Therefore praying Maha Lakshmi Devi during Sharad navaratri days effects many boons.
The mantra, ‘OM SreeM hreeM kleeMmahaalakshmeesvaahaa’ is to be chanted 108 times. A sweet made with black gram with stuffed Bengal gram and jaggery known as Purna should be offered(poornaalu). Lakshmi yantram should be worshipped; red flowers should be used; Lakshmi stotra should be recited.
The Alankarams of Navratri puja differs from year to year depending on the Nakshatras and Temple’s Agama Shasthra.
