Bail Pola or Pola, is a cattle festival celebrated in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & some other regions in North India. Bail Pola 2012 date is August 17. Bail Pola is celebrated on Pithori Amavasya or Amavasya in Shravan month (August – September). Vrushabha Puja or bullock worship is the main ritual of Bail Pola.
Each and every bullock of farming community is given water bath on Pola day. Colorful shawls and other attractive clothes are covered on them. Bullocks are adorned with ornaments. The special dish called ‘Puran Poli’ are prepared and offered to bullocks on Bail Pola festival.
