Vighna Ganapati
Vighna Ganapati is the ninth form of the 32 forms of Lord Ganapati. Lord Ganesha is one of the most popular Hindu God worshipped in India and is believed to be the remover of all obstacles in the lives of his devotees.
In this form, the Lord appears with eight hands similar to Lord Vishnu and holds the Shankha and Chakra on both left and right upper hand. The other hands hold his broken tusk and Modaka, noose and elephant goad, flower arrow, sugarcane and a battle axe. Vighna Ganapati’s trunk is curved with a bouquet of flowers and the lord wears plenty of ornaments. His complexion is of golden hue.
Rohini Nakshatra is associated with this form of Ganapati. It is believed that worshipping this form of Ganesha will help devotees to remove all obstacles and negative influence.
Vighna Ganapati Mantra and its translation:
“Shankheshu Chaapa Kusumeshu Kuthara
Pashachakra Swadanta Sruni Manjarikaa Sharaduhai
Paanishritaih Parisameehita Bhhoshana Shrih
Vighneshvaro Vijayato Tapaneeya Gaur”
“Ganapati removing the obstacles. He has eight arms. He is golden in colour. His hands hold the single tusk, the disc, the arrow-flowers, the hatchet, the conch, the sugar-cane stem, the noose, the elephant goad. With the tip of his trunk, he carries a bunch of flowers (pushapamanjari).”
Vighna Ganapathi Temples….
One of the most famous temples for this form of Ganapati can be seen in Thirukurungudi temple in Tirunalveli , Tamil Nadu. Apart from this, the temples in Thiruvananthapuram has the paintings of the 32 forms of Lord Ganapati. Also the temples in Chamarajanagar and Nanjangud in Mysore has all the 32 forms of Ganesha sculptures.
