Varasiddhi Vinayakar Temple, Besant Nagar, Chennai

The VarasiddhiVinayakar Temple in Besant Nagar, Chennai, is a famous Vinayaka temple located nearby the Besant Nagar Beach. The temple provides free food to the poor and conducts regular pujas. Devotees can pay the prescribed amount to the temple office, for performing pujas and homams during festival occasions.

This temple is situated opposite to Besant Nagar Bus Depot. Those who visit this temple can also visit Besant Nagar Ashta Lakshmi Temple and Arupadai Murugan temple which is situated a few kilo metres away from this temple.

Along with the main shrine, other shrines of the deities are also available. Since this temple is located in posh locality, lot of rich devotees would visit and offer donations and also would perform Abhishekham and Archanai to Lord Vinayaka.

The first Kumbabhishekam of the temple was held in April, 1979. The Temple conducts music programs during Vinayakar Chathurthi festival and also permits other organizations to conduct programs in the temple auditorium. It is considered as a sacred temple, and Lord Vinayaka bestows various boons to his devotees, and hence called as Vara Siddhi Vinayaka, which means giving boons and fulfilling the wishes of the devotees. I have also visited this famous temple many times, and due to that, I have got good mental relaxation and spiritual pleasure.

Those who visit this temple would get peace of mind and a great sense of satisfaction, which we would not find it anywhere else, since Lord Vinayaka is considered as the first god, and he is worshipped first before worshipping other deities.
