Ugadi, Telugu New Year and Kannada New Year, is celebrated with utmost fervor at Tirumala Tirupati Sri Venkateshwara swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh. Ugadi 2013 date is April 11. Special pujas, special sevas, vahana sevas, etc are performed to Srivaru.
Pushparchana, and Pushpabhishekam are the most attractive and eye-catching events during Ugadhi festival. Temple is decorated with specially imported aromatic flowers and garlands. Ugadi Pachadi is distributed in temple premises during Ugadhi festival.
‘Ekantha Thirumanjanam’ is performed to Srivari Utsava Vigraham (processional deities) Lord Malayappa swamy and his consorts inside the temple of Lord of seven hills. After that, deities are taken out for procession in the golden ‘Sarvabhoopala vahanam around the ‘Vimana prakaram encircling the Srivari Garbha gudi (sanctum sanctorum). ‘Panchanga Sravanam is the major event held at the ‘Bangaru Vakili after conducting all the above religious activities. Panchanga Sravanam is held in front of the main deity of Lord Sri Venkateshwara swamy.
Ugadhi celebrations attract few lakh of devotees as Ugadi is celebrated as Gudi Padwa (Marathi New Year) in Maharashtra and Nav Varsh (North Indian Hindu New Year) in North Indian states.
