TTD’s Water Saving Measures – Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju instructed the officials of TTD to take up wide publicity and bring awareness among the visiting pilgrims during this summer vacation to carefully use every drop of water in Tirumala.

A four-hour long review meeting with Water Works department of Engineering Wing took place at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Friday. Executive Engineer of Water Works Sri A Narasimhamurthy presented a detailed power point presentation on the activities of Water Works department in TTD, History and position of water storage capacity of various dams in Tirumala, filter points, Reverse Osmosis plants, Swamy Pushkarini etc.

After the presentation, Tirumala JEO appreciating the task done by water works department, given some instructions to educate the pilgrims on water usage in Tirumala as summer vacation have already started. “As per the statistics the water in the various dams at Tirumala including Gogarbham, Papavinasanam, Akasa Ganga, KP Dam can suffice the water needs of the visiting pilgrims till the month of July (106 days). But as a precautionary measure we need to publicize widely of proper usage of water in Tirumala since we received very scanty rainfall than the average during last year”, he added.

Meanwhile TTD has taken all measures to see that pure drinking water is supplied to the pilgrims at Tirumala with the help of its 64 RO units located at different areas. Apart from the main filter house plant, another filter plant is coming up near Kasuvumandapam to cleanse the water. He also instructed the officials to take keep the premises of Swamy Pushkarini clean.

Chief Engineer Sri Chandra Sekhar Reddy, SE II Sri Ramesh Reddy and other EEs, DyEEs, AEs were also present.
