Special Trains for Aadi Amavasai, Rameswaram

The Southern Railway has announced fully unreserved special trains in Madurai– Rameswaram sector on the occasion of Aadi Amavasai festival at Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram.

A railway statement issued on Wednesday said the special train would leave Madurai at 10.40 p.m. on August 10 and reach Rameswaram at 2 a.m. the next day. The train would stop at Madurai East, Silaiman, Tiruppuvanam, Tiruppachetti, Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Uchippuli, Mandapam and Pamban.

In the return direction, a fully unreserved train would leave Rameswaram at 11 p.m. on August 10 and reach Madurai at 2.15 a.m. the next day. The train would have stoppages at Mandapam, Ramanathapuram, Paramakudi, Manamadurai and Madurai East, the release said.

A large number of devotees from various parts of the country were expected to visit the temple and ‘Agnitheertham’ seashore on August 11 on the occasion of ‘Aadi Amavasai’.
