Teppotsavam or Theppotsavam is the concluding event of Devi Sharan Navaratri utsavam in Vijayawada Kanakadurga Temple. It is performed on Dasara or Vijayadashami. Teppotsavam 2013 date is October 13, Sunday, 5 pm onwards.

It is a boat festival during which the presiding deities of the temple are taken out for procession in boat along the river Krishna.

At 5’0 clock in the evening, Durga Malleshwara swamy varla utsava vigrahalu are taken out by priests along the Krishna River in a fully decked boat. This boat is known as Hamsa Vahanam. In Telugu, Hamsa means ‘the swan’ and the ‘vahanam’ is vehicle.

Why Theppotsavam is performed after Navaratri celebrations? Teppotsavam is more like requesting the God and Goddess to take rest for some time after getting pujas for 10 continous days without any breaks.

Teppotsavam 2012 date was October 24, Wednesday, 5 pm onwards.
