Mata Gayatri Devi is the 3rd day Alankaram in Vijayawada Dasara Navaratri 2022, 28 September. During Dasara Sharan Navaratri of Kanakadurga Temple, each day one of the forms of Goddess Durga is worshipped.
On third day this year, Kanakadurga Mata is decorated in the form of Sri Gayatri Devi and worshipped. It falls on Ashwayuja Shukla Paksha Tritiya tithi.
Goddess Gayatri is one of the aspects of Goddess Shakti. Goddess Gayathri is appeared as Panchamukhi (with five faces) seated on a lotus. These five faces of the Goddess symbolize Pancha pranas or five lives – prana, apana, vyana, udana and samana. They also symbolize the five principle elements (Panchabhootas) of the universe – earth, water, air, fire and sky.
Last year also, Gayatri Devi was the third day Goddess in Vijayawada Temple. The Alankarams of Navratri puja differs from year to year depending on the Nakshatras and Temple’s Agama Shasthra.
