Sub-Temples

The Idols of Sri Navagraha, Valli Deva Sena Sametha Sri Subrahmanya Swamy and Sri Anjaneya Swamy were consecrated and installed in the vicinity of Sri Ganapathi Devalayam in the year1932. Subsequently, in the year 1960, the temple was renovated to accommodate the ever-growing influx of devotees seeking Lord’s darshan and grace.

The temple was later taken over by the Endowments Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1968. In keeping with the spiritual and religious sanctity of the temple, temples for Lord Shiva, Goddess Sri Uma Maheshwari and Rahuketu as well as Maha Ganapathi Mantapam, Vimana Gopuram and Raja Gopuram (pinnacles of the temple over the Sanctuary) were constructed, thereby making the temple a ‘Center of Spiritual and Religious pursuits’.

Every year, on the occasion of ‘Vinayaka Chavithi’, the idol of Lord Ganapathi is worshipped according to Mahanyasa and Vedic traditions for nine days. The nine days long celebration of the festival (Nava Ratri) is celebrated with traditional dance performances, recital of Harikatha, Purana Pravachanam, music and traditional dance concerts by well-known artistes. The celebration ends on the last day i.e., Anantha Chaturdasi and comes to a close the next day when “Poornahoothi” and poor feeding are conducted. Traditional rituals and ceremonies are also conducted on the occasions of Hanuman Jayanthi, Shiva Ratri, Dussera and Subramanaya Swamy Sasthi.

Further, the temple is renowed for performing “Kedar Vrathams” during the month of Aswayuja, “Samuhika Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham during the month of Kaarthika” and number of rituals performed as per the astrological calender every year. The fascinating architectural design of Maha Mandapam, Salaharam, the meticulous carving of Sri Shodasa Ganesha and the Mahadwara reflect the architectural style and skill of the Kakatiya Dynasty, reminiscent of ancient Andhra Culture and civilization.

The presiding Deity of this Temple – Lord Ganesha is known for his boundless philanthropy in fulfilling the wishes of the devotees who throng this temple day in and day out throughout the year. During the last two decades the temple’s popularity has steadily increased. This temple is today managed by the Executive Officer of the cadre of Deputy Commissioner of Endowments Department of Telangana, Hyderabad.
