Srisailam temple remain closed during Chandra Grahanam, 31 January 2018 (Lunar Eclipse). All the temples under the management of Srisailam Devasthanam (Srisailam Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna swamy Temple) will remain closed during the Chandra Grahan on Magha Purnima.
This is the Total Lunar Eclipse (Sampurna Chandra Grahanam) which will be visible completely in Srisailam and other parts of Andhra Pradesh state and India.
It is to note that Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy is one of the Dwadasha Jyotirlingams (12 ancient Shiva Temples) and Srisailam Bhramaramba Temple is one of the Ashtadasha Shakti Peethams (18 Prominent Shakti Temples).
As per the Hindu almanac, the solar eclipse will commence on 31 January by 4.21 PM and conclude by 9:38 PM. But as a usual practice, the temple doors will be closed six hours prior to eclipse. So the temple doors will be closed for almost 11 hours from 31 January by 11 AM and will be re-opened after the Chandra Grahanam is over. Till this time there will be no darshan.
