Sri Suhak Shah

Sri Suhak Shah, Story of Sri Suhak Shah, Bhakti of Sri Suhak Shah..

God’s grace is likened to the sea. The vast ocean that throws the net with a shout of ‘Ohm ohm’ seems to show us the blue skin of God and His infinite glory. We sing the praises of him as the ocean of compassion and pleasure.

The grace of God can be compared to the wind. Where does this wind come from? Where is it going? This is a secret that is invisible to our eyes! We know this invisible air by its movement. The senses sense. As, soon as the cool breeze blows over us, all our fatigue is gone; The mind is clear. There is a smile on the face.

This is how God’s grace keeps us alive without our knowledge. We don’t know when we will get it in this form. But it continues to feed us in many ways the unwavering hope that we will receive.

The shrines of the devotees are the result of faith! Suhanshah is one such devotee.

It has been a tradition in India for a long time to worship God for rain. During the famine period, the kings used to call the Brahmins who had recited the Vedas, praise the Lord Varuna and chant the Varuna. Even now, in Tamil Nadu, when there is no rain, we can see the pulling of the effigy and chanting of Varna.

In the epic Ramayana, we read about the miracle of rain due to the arrival of the sage. Thirukkural praises rain as nectar. We also know that in both the texts, Thiruppavai and Thiruvembavai, there are hymns in praise of the rain god.

Seventy years ago, when there was a famine in the Ramanathapuram region, the poet Kunjara Bharathigal, who was the court scholar of the Sivaganga kings of Ramanathapuram, spoke to Lord Muruga in Kundrakudi in raga Dhanyasi.
It’s time to rain

Past generations knew very well the singing of the hymns and the heavy rains. The same thing happened during the time of Suhak Shah.

Suhak Shah was a devotee of Lord Vishnu who lived in Ahmedabad. He belonged to Alib, who was born without a male or a female. He dressed like a woman and did not come out often, did not enjoy intercourse with many people, and lived as if he was out of the community. Unexpectedly, he got the opportunity to become a devotee of Vishnu through a Sadhguru. Since then, he has been continuously worshipping Lord Vishnu. Pleased with his love, the Lord would appear to him every day and converse with him. But the neighbours did not know his intense devotion to God or the blessings of God. He was mostly silent but with a smiling face.

Once upon a time, when there was no rain, all the greens were destroyed. There was a famine. The inhabitants began to grieve; Seeing the suffering of the people, the king went to Kati with the determination to bring prosperity to the country and started doing penance to the Lord without food. At that time, the incorporeal arose as follows.

O king, I am pleased to see your penance with great earnestness. It is God’s will to alleviate the misery of your people. But the Lord wants to do it through another devotee and not on his own. There is a devotee named Suhak Shah in this city. When you worship him, it will rain, therefore stop your penance so much and take care of what is to be done.

Hearing these words, the king awoke. He came to the country. Then the minister told the nobles about the incarnation. They said, ‘King, whoever the devotees are, they are worthy of worship by us. How can we boast of them when God Himself goes out to serve them? Proud of the volunteers! So, let us know where he lives, and let us worship and pray to him to solve the famine’.

The king and the ministers at once went to Suhaka Shahs house, saluted him, told him of their arrival and the words of the infallible, and stood before him with great humility.

Suah Shah was lost in thought. What’s so strange about this? Why would the Lord send them here considering me as a disgrace! If there is His grace, how long will it take for it to rain? There must be some idea in ordering me to do so. It was wrong not to entertain the guests who had come to the house thinking that it was the Lord’s Divine Way, so the king made the ministers sit down and offered them his own drinks and then prayed to the Lord to shower them with rain.

It’s done. Until that evening, we didn’t even see any signs of rain! Suhak Shah was depressed. What will we do if Swami Thangal behaves like this? Shall we send the king to me and humiliate me like this, without causing it to rain? What is the value of my words without your grace? It is useless to say so many things; Night came; He bid farewell to the king and went back to meditation. But he was very angry with the Lord. I don’t think of you anymore, cried Suhak Shah angrily.

The Lord made it rain incessantly. By the grace of God, the rain poured down for two weeks and the earth cooled down. The villagers praised Suhak Shah. The king expressed his gratitude and asked him to get something, and he asked him to build a tomb for him later. A large number of people came to worship him and at the same time, the Lord also blessed Suhak Shah by appearing as a conch Chakra Peetambaradhari.
