Sri Ram Janaki Vivahotsav, popularly known as Vivah Panchami, is an auspicious on which the marriage of Lord Rama and Sita is celebrated. In 2015, Sri Ram Janaki Vivahotsav date is December 16.
It is believed that on Shukla Paksha Panchami in Margashirsha Month, Lord Rama married Janki Mata (Sita Devi).
Sri Ram Janaki Vivahotsav is mainly celebrated in Northern parts of India like… Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and some parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Janakpur of Nepal is believed as the home town of Goddess Janki. The celebrations of Vivah panchami are held in large scale in Janakpur for which thousands of devotees from India visit the place on this day.
