Cancer is the most dangerous disease in the world. There are various types of cancer which shakes the entire world. Though lot of research activity takes place to control the disease, still some people dies out of cancer, and most of them are poor!
In order to take care of the poor cancer patients, and in order to provide them proper medical facilities along with food and shelter, an NGO was started by a kind hearted person, Mr. V. Krishnamoorthy, and he named the Trust as Sri Matha Trust, which means Mother’s Trust.

Sri Matha Trust was established in the year 2000, with the kind blessings of Sri. Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kancheepuram Mutt.
Mr. V. Krishnamoorthy is the Managing Trustee of Sri Matha Trust. The idea of starting a Trust aroused in his mind, when he has lost his mother due to his inability to meet out the huge medical expenses, on account of his poor financial position prevailed during that time. Hence he started Sri Matha Trust and still now he provides shelter and food support for the poor patients who undergo treatment at Adyar Cancer Institute with utmost care and showers his motherly affection on them, he used to always interact with the patients with a smiling face, and that itself would give more courage and happiness to them.
Poor patients those who comes from various parts of India are being accommodated in the home along with an attender. The home provides high class quality digestible vegetarian meals 3 times a day, along with, tea and snacks served during morning and in the evening. During festival times the patients are also provided with new clothes, and the Trust also provides money for purchase of medicines to the poor patients.
The orphaned child of the deceased cancer patients, are also taken care of by the Trust by providing food, and also their educational expenses are being met out by the Trust.

Though I have written thousands of spiritual articles, yet, I am greatly satisfied by writing this article, since doing service to the poor people is much greater than doing service to the god. I have also interacted with Sri.Krishnamoorthy over phone for a few times, and during our discussion, he used to affectionately call me as, “PLEASE TELL ME MY DEAR HARI”.
When we are willing to donate even several lakhs of money to the temples, why can’t we donate some portion of our income to this excellent “SRI MATHA TRUST”?
