There are various ancient Spiritual books on Hinduism. It acts as a guide to the people to live the life in a purposeful and efficient manner.
The following are the sacred books on Hinduism:-
1. The Vedas
The Vedas are a large body of religious texts which originates in ancient India. According to ancient Puranas, Vyasa is the compiler of the Vedas and he is known to be as ‘Veda Vyasa’.
There are four Vedas: the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvanaveda.
The Upanishads, a part of the Vedas, contains some of the concepts and ideas of Hinduism. The Upanishads played an important role in the development of spiritual ideas in ancient India. Along with the Bhagavad Gita and the Brahmasutra, the Upanishads provide us a great spiritual knowledge.
Puranas covers a wide range of topics, historical and other traditional details. It is mainly composed in Sanskrit, and also in several other regional languages. Puranas covers the importance of Hindu deities such as Vinayaka, Muruga, Vishnu, Brahma, Laskhmi, Saraswathi, Shiva and Devi. There are 18 Maha Puranas and 18 Upa Puranas.
4. The Ramayana and Mahabharata
The Ramayana is one of the largest ancient epics in world literature. In Hindu mythology, it is considered to be an ancient epic. It depicts the responsibilities of people in various positions. Like Mahabharata, Ramayana is not just a story. The characters of Rama,Lakshmana and others are deeply observed in the minds of devotees, and they are not considering it as a story, but a real incident.
The Mahabharata contains devotional material.It shows the greatness of Lord Krishna, and also tells us the good behaviour of the pandavas, and their relationship with Lord Krishna.TheMahabharata is attributed to Veda Vyasa.
5. SrimadBhagavatham and Devi Bhagavatham
Sri Shuka rishi narrated Srimad Bhagavatam for seven days to Parakshit on the banks of the holy river Ganga. It contains the leelas of Lord Krishna during his childhood, such as killing various demons and giving salvation to them, and stealing butter from the neighborhood and playing the flute in a mesmerizing manner, and showing respect to all the people and acts as a divine child.
Srimad Bhagavata Maha Puraṇa is a Sanskrit text that belongs to Hindu literature. The text is considered as a Mahapurana of India. Those who study continuously the Bhagavata Maha Purana with pure bhakti, and chant the name of Lord Krishna, will never take rebirth and will finally merge with Lord Krishna.
The Devi Mahatmyam, is one of the most important works, that reveres Devi as the main creator of the universe. It celebrates Goddess Sakthi as the origin of all existence, the creator, the preserver and the destroyer of everything, and the one who gives salvation to her true devotees. By reading this bhagawatham, we can get better prospects in our life and can attain the glory of Goddess Sakthi.
6. Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita, often referred to as the Gita, is a Sanskrit scripture,and is a part of Mahabharata.
The Gita was narrated to Arjuna by Lord Krishna during the Kurukshetra war.When Arjuna was filled with full of sorrow about the violence and death that the war will cause, Lord Krishna answers him in the battle field, and his discussion with Arjuna is said to be the formation of Bhagavad Gita. It acts as a guide and teaches us the ways of living in this world without much difficulty.
The above sacred texts of Hinduism, throws us a light to live the life in a meaningful manner. It also shows us how to behave with others, and shows the importance of danam and dharmam and other holy activities. In the present day difficult life, these sacred texts helps us to lead a peaceful and worthful life.
If we study all the sacred puranas and vedas, our mind and body will get relaxed, and our inner energy will flow from our head to bottom with full strength, and we will be able to achieve any target in our life.
