Aditya Pujan is observed on Sundays in Shravan month in Maharashtra & some parts of Gujarat. In 2021, Aditya Pujan dates are: August 15, August 22, August 29 and September 5.
As each day of Shravan maas is dedicated for a specific vrata or puja, Surya Bhagwan is worshipped on Aditya Pujan days for better health.
Surya Bhagavan is worshipped with special rituals on these days at the time of sunrise. Special Naivedya (bhog) like Kheer is offered to the Lord and distributed among devotees after the pujan. Aditya Hridayam and Surya Astottram are the important prayers to chant on Aditya Pujan days.
Apart from Sundays in Shravan, Sashti and Saptami are also dedicated to Surya Bhagavan. Surya Sashti is observed on Sashti in Shukla Paksha.
In 2020, Aditya Pujan dates are: July 26, August 2, August 9 and August 16.
In 2019, Aditya Pujan dates are: August 4, August 11, August 18 and August 25.
In 2018, Aditya Pujan dates are: August 12, August 19, August 26, September 2 and September 9.
In 2017, Aditya Pujan dates were: 30 July, August 6, August 13 and August 20.
In 2016, Aditya Pujan dates were: August 7, August 14, August 21 and August 28.
In 2015, Aditya Pujan dates were: August 16, August 23, September 6 and September 13.
In 2014, Aditya Pujan dates were: July 27, August 3, August 10 and August 17.
