Shravan Amavasya | Amavasya in Shravan Month

Shravan Amavasya is the No Moon day in Shravan month. Shravan Amavasya is observed as Pithori Amavasya in North India and Polala Amavasya in Andhra Pradesh. In 2025, Shravan Amavasya date is July 24 in North Indian Hindi calendars and where it is on August 23 as per Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, and Telugu calendars. Pola or Bail Pola is celebrated on Shravan Amavasya in Maharashtra.

Devotees perform holy dip (punya snan) on Shravan Amavasya. Pitru Tharpan and Pinda daan are also performed by devotees on this day.

Poleramma Vratam is the main ritual on Shravan Amavasy in Andhra Pradesh. In some parts of Karnataka also it is observed.

In North India, Shravan Amavasya is observed as Hariyali Amavasya. It marks the end of Shravani Mela in Deoghar Baidyanath Dham.
