Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple is situated in Periyar Nagar, near Periyar Nagar Post Office, Chennai – 600082. This temple is surrounded with big trees, and hence we can breathe fresh air. This is a medium sized temple, and in this temple, both Shiva and Vishnu Shrines are available.
The important feature of this temple is, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Sundareswarar, and Ma Parvati is worshipped as Meenakshi, and Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Venkateswara of Tirumala, and Ma Lakshmi is worshipped as Padmavathi Thayar of Thiruchanur. Here both Vishnu and Shiva festivals are celebrated in a nice manner, like Rama Navami, Krishna Jayanti, Vaikunta Ekadasi, Shiva Rathri and Pradosham.
Apart from Shiva and Vishnu and their consort shrines, shrines of Lord Vinayaka, Muruga, Vishnu, Brahma, Narasimha, Hanuman, Chakratazhvar and Navagrahas are also found inside this temple.Newly wedded couples would visit this temple and perform Abhishekham and Archanai to Narasimha and Chakratazhvar, in order to lead their married life happily and peacefully.
This temple is situated just 3 kilometres far away from my home, and hence I used to visit this temple on Sundays. Temples are a must to visit place, since it removes the miseries and sorrows from our mind, and give fresh energy. There are lot of big and small temples situated throughout the world. Among the temples visited by me, I like this nice temple, since in this temple almost all the deities are available in one roof.Both Vaishnavites and Shaivites can visit and worship the deities present in this temple.
Those who have got good knowledge in performing Upanyasams can approach the temple office, and after getting their permission they can perform divine discourses from Shiva Purana, Bhagavatham and Vishnu Purana. Doing good activities, would give good strength in our mind and body, and we would lead a blessed life.
