Goddess Shailputri is the first among the nine Navadurga Goddesses. Shailputri mata is worshipped on the first day during Durga Navratri Pooja. In 2023, Maa Shailaputri Puja date October 15 in Ashwin Navratri and March 22 in Chaitra Navratri. The Goddess is worshipped on Kalash Sthapana or Ghatsthapana day.
Appearance and Iconography of Maa Shailaputri:
Goddess Shailaputri has a half moon in her forehead and rides a bullock. Shailputri holds a Trishul (lance) in her right hand and a lotus in her left hand. Shailaputri wears a light pink or white coloured saree.
