Shabari Jayanti

Shabari Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Shabari Mata. Shabari Mata is an ardent devotee of Sri Rama. She attained Moksha by worshipping Lord Sri Ramachandra throughout her life.

In 2013, Shabari Jayanti date is March 4. It falls on Krishna Paksha Saptami in Falgun Month as per North Indian Hindi calendars while it coincides with Magh Month as per Amavasyant Panchangams.

Shabari was a hunter’s daughter who belong to the Nishadha tribal community. When she met Sage Matanga (Matanga Maharshi) at Mountain Rishyamukha, she has attained Upadesham and worshipped Rama for several years.

While going towards Lanka in search of Goddess Sita Devi, Rama and Lakshmana gave Darshan to Shabari. She is the one who told about Sugriva and led Rama and Lakshmana visit Sugriva and Hanuman.

As per the Ramayana, Shabari was an intellectual saint.
