    hello,

I just started fasting, want to know the do’s& dont’s about fasting, any pooja/abhishekham needs to be performed in the temple in the morning? while breaking the fast what has to be done -pooja and sloka chanting, weather prasad making is mandatory? if moon doesn’t appear what has to be done? kindly some one give me inside….

    THX IN ADVANCE

    • Naveen Kumar Sanagala says:

Hi Sirisha! Visiting the temple, abhishekam and morning puja are also not necessary. Offering food or naivedyam to Lord Ganesha is mandatory. You can even offer fruits, or banana smash with milk to Ganesh. Seeing the moon means, you need to break the fast after 7.00 in the evening. There is rule that you should break the fast after seeing moon…. in winter rarely you can see moonrise…. 🙂

If the moon is not appearing in the sky even after the Chandrodaya time (Moonrise timing), you can perform Sankashti Ganesha Puja just after worshipping (praying to) Chandra.
